Reiki

Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is a gentle complementary wellness practice that originated in Japan in the early twentieth century through Mikao Usui.

Practised around the world in hospitals, hospices, wellness clinics, and private practices to support relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. During a session, I use gentle, intentional touch to create a calm environment where
both body and mind have an opportunity to slow down. Many clients describe feeling deeply relaxed, grounded, or refreshed afterwards, although every experience is unique. You do not need to “believe in” Reiki to benefit from a session.

How I Can Help

My role is not to convince you of a particular philosophy, but to provide a safe, professional experience where you can decide whether you find it valuable.

While Reiki has been practised for over a century and millions of people worldwide report positive experiences, its exact mechanisms remain uncertain. Research continues to evolve, with studies exploring potential benefits for stress, anxiety, pain perception, relaxation, and overall well-being. Studies suggest Reiki may encourage the body’s “rest and repair” response, supporting relaxation and recovery.

Clients commonly seek Reiki to support:

  • Stress reduction and relaxation
  • Anxiety and emotional well-being
  • Nervous system regulation
  • Improved sleep
  • Coping with chronic pain
  • Fatigue and burnout
  • Recovery during difficult life transitions
  • General wellbeing and self-care

My Approach

I believe Reiki works best alongside modern healthcare, not instead of it. My practice is trauma-informed, evidence-aware, and grounded in clear communication and informed consent. I value collaboration with other qualified professionals, and my goal is to provide a respectful, supportive environment where you feel safe, heard, and cared for.

Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and should not be considered a replacement for medical or mental healthcare. If you are experiencing a medical or mental health emergency or have concerns about a significant health condition, please seek advice from your healthcare provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Reiki is generally considered a gentle, low-risk complementary therapy for most
people. If you are pregnant, recovering from surgery, or living with a medical condition, Reiki can often still be enjoyed as a complementary therapy, but I encourage you to discuss any concerns with your healthcare team before booking.

Each session begins with a conversation about your goals, health history, and comfort
level. You remain fully clothed while lying comfortably on a treatment table as I use
gentle touch throughout the body.

Around sensitive areas, including the chest and pelvic region, my hands remain above the body rather than making direct contact. My practice is trauma-informed and centred on ongoing consent, meaning you are always welcome to ask questions, request changes, or stop treatment at any time.
